HECMAcademy ("we", "us", "our") publishes independent educational content about FHA Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) and related reverse mortgage products. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information we collect through this site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us through a form on this site. Depending on which form you submit, that may include:

  • Your first name (and last name, if provided)
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (only on forms that ask for it)
  • Optional context you type into a form (age band, state, home value range, notes)
  • Basic technical information collected automatically, such as browser type, device type, referring URL, and general location derived from IP address

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card numbers on this site.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit to:

  • Send you the educational content you requested (for example, the free HECM guide PDF)
  • Send occasional follow-up emails with related educational material
  • Respond to questions you send us directly
  • Improve our content, understand which topics are useful, and diagnose site issues

HECMAcademy is not a lender or broker and does not originate loans. We do not use your information to make loan offers.

Third parties we share with

We use a small number of vendors to run the site. They only receive the information they need to provide their service:

  • Resend — delivers our transactional and educational emails (name and email address).
  • Google Analytics — measures anonymized site usage such as pageviews, sessions, and traffic sources.
  • Meta Pixel — measures the performance of ads that direct visitors to our educational content.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with reverse mortgage lenders, brokers, or lead-buying networks.

Your rights and choices

  • Unsubscribe at any time. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Once you unsubscribe, we stop sending marketing emails.
  • Request access or deletion. Email info@hecmacademy.com and we will confirm what we have on file and, on request, delete it (except where we are required to keep a record, for example to honor an unsubscribe).
  • Cookies and analytics. You can block cookies or use browser privacy settings to limit analytics and ad-measurement tracking.

Do-not-sell / do-not-share

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share your personal information with third parties for their own cross-context behavioral advertising. If you are a California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or Utah resident, this notice serves as our disclosure under those states' privacy laws.

Data retention

We keep contact records for as long as they remain useful to provide the content you requested, or until you ask us to delete them. Suppression records (for unsubscribes and bounces) are kept indefinitely so we don't accidentally email you again.
